Citizen Helene will make you dance.

Citizen Helene is a London-based DJ and musician with a deep love of boogie, disco, jazz and funk from around the world.

She presents a show on Soho Radio (10PM BST every first Thursday of the month) and has performed at London venues such as Alexandra Palace, the Tate Modern, Brilliant Corners, Spiritland, The Standard Hotel/Decimo and The Social. Past festival appearances include Field Day, Green Man, Port Eliot and Walthamstow Garden Party.

Musician

As a singer and songwriter, Helene has been compared to matrons of 60’s pop Margo Guryan, Karen Carpenter and Joni Mitchell, while her intricate electric guitar playing, insightful lyrics and incredible outfits could sit anywhere between Grace Jones and Todd Rundgren. Her sunshine pop and vocal harmonies have been described as ‘baroque and beautiful’ by Darian Sahanaja of the Brian Wilson Band and like ‘bonkers English pop-sike crossed with a honey-soaked Californian sunset’.

A keen collaborator, Helene has frequently recorded and performed with Mary Epworth, Dimorphodons, Seahawks, The Memory Band and Papernut Cambridge.

Shifting focus in 2019, she began releasing music under the alias Galaxy Brain, producing a debut EP, ‘Night Dad’, in 2022, followed by a string of singles and remixes for LDLDN, The Leaf Library and more.
